LG's wireless Tone headphones have a Google Assistant button

With the G7 ThinQ smartphone, LG cemented its commitment to Google's AI, and now it's doing the same with its neck-worn Tone headphone lineup. The LG Tone Platinum SE supports Google Assistant via a dedicated button, letting you get information or a translation without the need to pull out your smartphone or say "OK Google." LG didn't specify, but it appears to be just a button and not full Google Assistant integration like you'll find on certain Sony headphone models, for example.

Both models have in-ear headphones, but the Tone Ultra SE (below) also packs a speaker, much like the Tone Studio that launched in 2016. The idea is that you can listen to music without blocking ambient sounds, which helps when you need to be aware of your surroundings. As we pointed out in our ears-on review, don't expect a lot of base, though. If you don't want to bother others, simply pop in the tethered earphones.

Both devices have balanced armatures and dynamic drivers for maximum audio quality, along with MEMS microphones that enhance call clarity. LG also offers support for its Tone & Talk smartphone app. There's no word yet on pricing or availability, but LG will be showing them off at IFA in Berlin at the end of the month.

We won't see a 'universal' vape oil cartridge anytime soon

Pre-loaded cartridges of cannabis concentrate are currently among the most popular means of consumption, and for good reason. They're discreet to use and easy to handle, a far cry from the dark days of 2016 when we had to dribble hash oil or load wax into narrow-mouthed vape pens by hand.
