Nintendo can quickly ban Switch pirates from online play

Image
Nintendo has implemented some pretty stringent anti-piracy measures for the Switch , and according to one console hacker, it has already started banning game cart certificates. In a lengthy PSA on the SwitchHacks subreddit, "SciresM" said Nintendo can now quickly detect if the game you're trying to play online has been legitimately purchased, whether it's a game cart or a digital copy. The gaming giant performs server-side checks, so you can't bypass them -- if it determines that you're playing a legit copy, it issues an authorization token that can't be forged. In case it catches you trying to play a pirated copy, it will prevent your game from connecting and could even permanently ban your console from being able to access the Nintendo network. Looks like we've got confirmation that Nintendo is banning gamecart certificates (I gue

California Rep. requests 23andMe to help reunite children with families

Image
California Representative Jackie Speier reportedly asked DNA-testing company 23andMe to help reunite children separated from their parents at the US-Mexico border due to Trump's 'zero tolerance' immigration policies. She told Buzzfeed that she was concerned with the lack of records for families that have been split up, but it was unclear if, or to what extent, the genetics company would get involved. "If they're under two, they don't know [who their parents are]. It's horrible," Speier told Buzzfeed, regarding the children affected by the policy. As to whether 23andMe will help, she said "They were going to think about it." When reached for comment, a 23andMe spokesperson shared this statement. "We are more than happy to support efforts that can help with the tragic separation of thousands of children from their par

Update the VCSA to latest 6.1U1g and not to 6.5U2

Image
VMware vSphere 6.5 it's quite popolar now, considering the deadline for the version 5.5 in this year and the direct upgrade path from v5.5 to v6.5. But maybe not everybody want to update vSphere 6.5 to Update 2, considering that there will be no upgrade path (yet) to version 6.7 and maybe other minor issues due to the backport of some features. For the ESXi host is quite simple build a baseline to exclude the specific Update 2 patch. You can can also exclude a specifc patch (of a set of patches) during the remediation phase. Options for NTP services in ESXi

Image
There are 3 options basically for NTP services start and stop 1) Start automatically if any ports are open, and stop when all ports are closed. 2) Start and stop with host. 3) Start and stop manually.     1)Start automatically if any ports are open, and stop when all ports are closed: This one is the default settings which is recommended by the VMware. In this option if any ports are open the client attempts to contact the network resources of the services. Here point to be noted where if some ports are open, but the port for a particular services are closed, the attempt fails. It's a drawback where the applicable outgoing port open then only the services begins to complete its usual task. 2) Start and stop with host: The service starts shortly after the host starts and closes shortly before the host shuts down. Much like Start automatically if

Astronomy Picture of the Day: Galaxy in a Crystal Ball

Image
Galaxy in a Crystal Ball A small crystal ball seems to hold a whole galaxy in this creative snapshot . Of course, the galaxy is our own Milky Way. Its luminous central bulge marked by rifts of interstellar dust spans thousands of light-years. On this long southern hemisphere night it filled dark Chilean skies over Paranal Observatory . The single exposure image did not require a Very Large Telescope, though. Experiments with a digital camera on a tripod and crystal ball perched on a handrail outside the Paranal Residencia produced the evocative, cosmic marble portrait of our home galaxy. nuTonomy can test autonomous vehicles city-wide in Boston

Image
Autonomous cars will now be allowed on all public Boston roads. The city has played host to nuTonomy for some time now, allowing the company to test its self-driving Renault Zoes at the Raymond L. Flynn Marine Park in January of last year, later expanding its testing zone to the Seaport District. And for the past few months, nuTonomy and Lyft have teamed up on a pilot program, transporting passengers in the autonomous vehicles within the Seaport area. Now, Boston will allow nuTonomy to test its vehicles city-wide. "Continuing to test autonomous vehicles in a careful and methodical manner represents another step forward in helping us to achieve the vision for improved mobility that was established by residents during the Go Boston 2030 Transportation Plan public process," Boston Mayor Martin Walsh said in a statement . "If deployed thoughtfully, shared f

YouTube will now let creators play pre-recorded videos during live streams

Image
YouTube announced several new features out of VidCon today that will shake up the way mid-sized creators monetize. In particular, it announced a Premieres feature, which will let creators pre-record videos for their live streams. This allows creators to focus on things like answering live chat questions while the pre-recorded video is playing. The platform is also expanding its YouTube Sponsorships and rebranding it as Channel Memberships. Creators can name their fan clubs and charge $4.99 for membership, so long as they have at least 100,000 subscribers. They can design custom emoji for their live streams and designate special perks for paying members, similar to how Patreon works. The feature will roll out over the next few weeks. The... YouTube creators can hype pre-recorded videos with 'Premieres'

Image
While YouTube users have been able to schedule pre-recorded videos for years, up until now there hasn't been a seamless way to build anticipation for those videos. But, there's a new feature being launched at VidCon 2018, called YouTube Premieres , that's going to change that. This new tool will let creators hype up future on-demand videos with a dedicated, public landing page that they can link to before a video is live on their channel. Right now, YouTube creators tend to go on other social sites like Instagram or Twitter to let their followers know about incoming videos, but there wasn't a way for them to direct people to a specific page on YouTube -- not for pre-rec orded videos, anyway . Now with Premieres, they'll be able to do exactly that, complete with a countdown and, most importantly, the Super Chat feature that'll let creators inte
