Mercedes has been testing smarter headlights, and now it appears they're no longer just a concept. Daimler announced today that these futuristic headlamps will be available in top of the line Mercedes-Maybach S-Class vehicles. These smart headlights are equipped with the equivalent of a digital projector, which can control how and where the light is thrown. The sensors on the car can determine when and how bright the headlamps should illuminate, preventing drivers from blinding pedestrians or people in other vehicles. On Wednesday, a train carrying House Republicans collided with a truck. The accident left one person dead and another injured. It's a tragedy, to be sure, and promoting misinformation around the event is incredibly unhelpful. Which is why it's so frustrating that Facebook is apparently up to its old tricks; the social network promoted stories in the "People are Saying" section of "Trending News" that were full of conspiracy theories and misinformation, including that Hillary Clinton ordered the crash. Just a few days after Facebook announced that its 2018 goal was to make Messenger less clunky , now there's an iPhone bug that makes the app almost unusable for some people. The app apparently freezes up after typing a few words. TechCrunch reports that closing and reopening the app didn't fix the issue. I was unable to replicate the bug within my own Messenger app on iOS. We've reached out to Facebook for comment on whether the bug will be patched soon. It appears the company is aware of the issue, though. According to Facebook's report earlier this week, the service has 1.3 billion monthly active users. If even a fraction if iPhone users are affected by this bug, that's not an insignificant portion of its user base. Let's hope the problem is fixed soon.
