LG’s new neckbuds have a button for Google Assistant and Translate

Image
Ahead of this month's IFA show in Berlin, LG has announced a pair of neckbud products that come with Google Assistant support. Like LG's G7 phone , the Tone Platinum SE earbuds have a dedicated button that can be used to invoke the Assistant without the "Okay Google" voice command. The Tone Ultra SE is the same thing, but with a mono speaker as well as the earbuds so you can listen to audio without blocking out your surroundings. LG thinks the Assistant button will be particularly useful when using features such as Google Translate, and it's true that having to say "Hey Google" all the time would be even weirder in the middle of a conversation in a language that you don't speak. Audible's first fitness programs guide you through workouts

Image
Audible now wants to serve as your personal coach -- the audiobook service is launching audio fitness programs through an alliance with Aaptiv. Each program has a professional trainer guiding you through a progressively challenging set of workouts with a clear goal in mind, complete with a soundtrack to keep up the momentum. The first three courses are aimed squarely at beginners interested in outdoor running and stress-relieving meditation, but follow-ups in the weeks ahead will address more challenging issues, such as the boredom that sets in with an all-too-familiar gym routine . The programs are currently free to Audible subscribers, although they won't be free forever. You'll have access to them until September 5th, at which point they'll disappear from your library. It's telling that Audible describes these as its "first" programs,

Astronomy Picture of the Day: Glowing Elements in the Soul Nebula

Image
Glowing Elements in the Soul Nebula Stars are forming in the Soul of the Queen of Aethopia. More specifically, a large star forming region called the Soul Nebula (IC 1898) can be found in the direction of the constellation Cassiopeia , who Greek mythology credits as the vain wife of a King who long ago ruled lands surrounding the upper Nile river. The Soul Nebula houses several open clusters of stars , a large radio source known as W5 , and huge evacuated bubbles formed by the winds of young massive stars . Located about 6,500 light years away, the Soul Nebula spans about 100 light years and is usually imaged next to its celestial neighbor the Heart Nebula (IC 1805). The featured image is a composite of three exposures in different colors: red as emitted by hydrogen gas, yellow as emitted by sulfur , and blue as emitted by oxygen . Steam TV goes live again to stream 'Dota 2' tournament

Image
Steam TV is online again after Valve briefly pushed it live last week. The platform is currently streaming a live broadcast of The International 2018, Valve's Dota 2 esports tournament. While the website still doesn't have a lot of features to offer, you'll be able to see the chat room even if you don't log into your Steam account. You'll have to use your log-in credentials if you want to participate in the chat or to watch the game with friends, but if you're fine watching alone and keeping your thoughts to yourself, all you need to do is go to the website. Take note that the video refused to load for us on Chrome or Safari and only worked on Firefox. Source: Steam TV via Engadget RSS Feed https://ift.tt/2N2uped
