PowerCLI and VVols Part II: Finding VVol UUIDs

Image
One of the great benefits of VVols is that fact that virtual disks are just volumes on your array. So this means if you want to do some data management with your virtual disks, you just need to work directly on the volume that corresponds to it. The question is what virtual disk corresponds to … Continue reading PowerCLI and VVols Part II: Finding VVol UUIDs → via Latest imported feed items on VMware Blogs https://ift.tt/2lWrl7G If New feed item from https://blogs.vmware.com/feed , then send me an email at kr

Understanding the vSAN Witness Appliance – Cluster Membership, Versioning, and Hosting

Image
The vSAN Witness Appliance virtual machine provides a virtualized ESXi host that acts as a tie breaker for vSAN Stretched Cluster and 2 Node configurations. Some common questions come up around not only which version of the vSAN Witness Appliance should be used, but what version the vSAN Witness Appliance should be run on. Samsung's Galaxy S9 couldn't keep profit growth on pace in Q2

Image
Samsung's projected operating profit for April to June of 2018 is around $700 million more than its profit from the same period last year. At $13.2 billion, though, it's still going to be much smaller than the $14 and the $14.4 billion profit it posted in the last quarter of 2017 and the first quarter of 2018 , respectively. Samsung's earnings guidance didn't reveal why it wasn't able to beat its own numbers, but according to Bloomberg , one of the reasons is the weaker-than-expected sales of the Galaxy S9. Smartphone sales, especially in the flagship category, have been slowing down in recent years, since not everyone who already has a decent phone will want to upgrade every year. The higher marketing costs in recent months haven't been helping the company either. Bloomberg says Samsung's OLED sales to Apple for its iPhone X have also bee...

EMC Unity Datastore “not available in the VMware Hypervisor”

Image
Recently, when creating the first VMFS datastore on an EMC storage array, I received and error stating that "the specified disk is not available in the VMware hypervisor".  Though the VMFS datastore was successfully created on the array, the error occurred when trying to assign permissions to the vSphere hosts themselves. In this particular circumstance, … Continue reading EMC Unity Datastore "not available in the VMware Hypervisor" via Latest imported feed items on VMware Blogs https://ift.tt/2zfOwDp If New feed item from https://blogs.vmware.com/feed , then send me an email at kr ...

How to use Horizon Module with PowerCLI

Image
Today I've been looking at the Extensibility to Horizon View, but primarily using VMware PowerCLI with Horizon. VMware Horizon PowerCLI provides Windows PowerShell cmdlets for administering VMware Horizon from the command line. Windows PowerShell uses the Microsoft.NET object model and provides administrators with management and automation capabilities. As with any console environment, you work with Windows PowerShell by running commands, which are called cmdlets. They follow the verb-noun structure for example G et-Help View Connection Server includes more than 45 Windows PowerShell-based cmdlets. You can use these cmdlets with the VMware vSphere® PowerCLITM cmdlets. You can also use the VMware Horizon cmdlets to examine the configuration of vCenter Server systems and management of licensing, global configuration, connection brokers, pools, entitlements, and desktop-user assignment. Thi...

Samsung’s record profit run ends after reportedly slow Galaxy S9 sales

Image
Samsung Electronics has reported record profits for every quarter in the past year, but it looks like that run is at an end. The company just released earnings guidance of 14.8 trillion won ($13.2 billion) in operating profit off 58 trillion won ($51.8 billion) in revenue for Q2, which would represent a 0.7-percent decline in sales and an 11-percent increase in profit. Last quarter Samsung made 15.64 trillion won in profit from revenue of 60.56 trillion won, its strongest results ever. Analysts speaking to the Financial Times and The Wall Street Journal say that poor sales of the Galaxy S9 have weighed on Samsung's bottom line in the second quarter; it's reportedly sold the lowest of any flagship Samsung phone since the Galaxy S3, with...
