A while back I already posted about new services that where available for the View API's in PowerCLI 10.1.1. Recently the api explorer for this version was published and can be found here. Two things that I didn't find back then was the addition of two services for the query… Continue reading via Latest imported feed items on VMware Blogs https://ift.tt/2MGaLox If New feed item from https://blogs.vmware.com/feed , then send me an email at kr

Twitter bans far-right group Proud Boys ahead of Washington rally

Image
Just because Twitter is reluctant to take action against some of its more malicious users doesn't mean it isn't cracking down against others. Twitter has confirmed to BuzzFeed News that it banned the accounts of the far-right group Proud Boys for reportedly breaking its rules prohibiting "violent extremist groups." The social network shut down the group's main account, its satellite accounts and that of its founder Gavin McInnes. While the company didn't specify what prompted the move, it came just after a violent August 4th protest in Portland, Oregon, and just ahead of the extreme right-wing Washington, DC rally on August 12th. The group has denied racism but has been listed as a hate group by the SPLC for its anti-immigrant, Islamophobic policies, and routinely attaches itself to neo-Nazi rallies. And while it claims to use violence ...

Microsoft’s Halo arcade game is now deployed to Dave & Busters across the US and Canada

Image
At E3 this year, Microsoft unveiled a new Halo game — Halo: Fireteam Raven . It wasn't Halo 6 or Halo: Infinite , but an arcade game set during the events of Halo: Combat Evolved . The game is now available to play across the US and Canada at Dave & Busters. The game follows a team of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (ODSTs), as they fight alongside Master Chief on the original Halo ring. The game booth uses a 130-inch 4K screen to allow up to four players to play, manning four turrets in the game console, which allows them to fight across six levels. Players will also be able to log into the game with their gamertag to add their progress on Halo Waypoint. The games have been installed at Dave & Busters, a chain of arcade restaurants with 117... Ask Engadget: Do I buy, build... or both?

Florida man arrested in alleged multi-state SIM card hacking ring

Image
Florida authorities made an arrest last month in an alleged multi-state SIM card hacking ring, the latest in a series of similar incidents. According to court records first unearthed this week by reporter Brian Krebs, law enforcement learned of the plot when a mother in Michigan overheard her son pretending to be an AT&T employee and called investigators. Authorities turned up, searched the son's room and his computer, and discovered files with a list of names and phone numbers, along with SIM cards and cell phones. Found seven victims in seven states After more searching, officers say they discovered SIM cards that led to seven victims in seven states, and who said their identities were stolen and cryptocurrency accounts pilfered of... Democratic National Committee serves Wikileaks a summons on Twitter

Image
You'll have to be creative to serve a secretive online organization like Wikileaks whose founder is hiding out in a foreign embassy. It definitely became an issue for the Democratic National Committee, which filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against the group for the role it played in the 2016 cyberattack that targeted the political party. Now, the DNC has finally served the organization, and you can even see it for yourself... because it all went down on Twitter . International law firm Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll PLLC recently signed up for an account on the platform for that specific purpose. It tweeted Wikileaks with a message that says "By Court order, you are being served with the following legal documents," followed by several links that point to digital copies of court summons and other relevant files. @wikileaks By Court order, y...

The Morning After: Weekend Edition

Image
Hey, good morning! You look fabulous. Welcome to the weekend! NASA pushed back the launch of its solar probe, and we're reminiscing over the good old days of MoviePass. The Parker Solar Probe will help us better understand solar winds and space weather. NASA will try to launch its solar probe again on Sunday The Parker Solar Probe will go closer to the massive ball of gas and plasma keeping our solar system together than any other spacecraft has gone before. It will brave extreme temperatures reaching up to 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit to collect data and images of the sun's atmosphere called "corona." The spacecraft will also reach speeds up to 430,000 mph, making it the fastest-ever human-made object. NASA was scheduled to launch it on a Delta IV rocket Saturday morning but the attempt was scrubbed. ULA and NASA are now planning to ...

Why Facebook banned Alex Jones — and Twitter didn’t

Image
On one hand, we spent maybe too much time this week on the question of whether one person should lose access to his social media accounts. On the other hand, it's a question that illuminates some of the central tensions that led me to start this newsletter. How can social media be used to do harm? Can tech companies effectively rein in their worst users? Also, what the hell is Twitter's deal? Will Oremus tries to answer the latter question with some reporting on what people inside Twitter are saying about Alex Jones . He offers a handful of theories on the company's paralyzed, contradictory stances on Infowars. First, there's Twitter's bias toward inaction on almost all things; second, there's its terror of being called partisan by... Continue reading… via The Verge - Tech Posts https://ift.tt/2MFk3Rl ...
