Back in June, I excitedly announced I'm going to VMworld 2018 US, my 7th time attending, and I get to present! My presentation as a VMware employee had been accepted, but my proposal to present at the #vBrownBag was pending, and I didn't really know for sure if an invite from Community Leaders Corey Romero and Elsa Mayer would work out.
Turns out not only are all the presentation proposals actually happening, but moments ago, I got word that Corey and Elsa actually managed to get my home lab themed live demo into the VMware Session Builder Catalog as well!
Paul will have U.2, M.2, and PCIe NVMe SSDs on hand including Intel Optane/3D XPoint. Visit to nerd out about the latest tech that fuels his portable but very powerful home datacenter, running the new vSphere 6.7 downloaded from VMUG Advantage EVALExperience, of course, with some dabbling in vSAN. Intel Xeon D systems from both Supermicro and Gigabyte will be featured this year, and it's a great chance to meet the author behind all that home lab enthusiast and consumer electronics content at TinkerTry IT @ home – Efficient virtualization, storage, backup and more.

This year, I'll be featuring my Supermicro Xeon D-1541 SuperServer running vSphere 6.7 smooth as silk, with that awesome HTML5 UI. A special surprise this year is that a GIGABYTE Server MB51-PS0 that isn't even out yet! That's right, you can't even buy this particular Xeon D-2100 motherboard yet, but you sure can see it if you stop by my booth!
Of course, I'll have Intel, Micron, and Samsung NVMe SSDs with me too, in M.2, and U.2, and PCIe flavors, of course.

Note-taking app Evernote has fallen on hard times of late, culminating in its latest spate of job cuts impacting 15 percent of its workforce (54 employees). CEO Chris O' Neil -- an ex-Googler who took the reins in 2015 -- announced the firings at an all-hands meeting earlier today, reports TechCrunch . In a message on the Evernote blog , O' Neill admitted he'd set "incredibly aggressive goals" for the company in 2018. Pre-loaded cartridges of cannabis concentrate are currently among the most popular means of consumption, and for good reason. They're discreet to use and easy to handle, a far cry from the dark days of 2016 when we had to dribble hash oil or load wax into narrow-mouthed vape pens by hand. But, frustratingly, an ever increasing number of oil cartridge manufacturers employ one-off design standards so that their products won't work with those of their competitors, thereby locking customers into proprietary ecosystems.
