Nest co-founder Matt Rogers is leaving the company just after it rejoins Google


Nest co-founder Matt Rogers announced on Twitter today that he’ll be leaving the smart home company. The news comes just a day after Nest — which has worked as a separate Alphabet subsidiary for the last three years — rejoined Google in order to better compete against Apple and Amazon and allow better collaboration amongst Google’s AI-powered hardware. The news was first reported by CNET.

In addition to co-founding the smart home company alongside former Apple product guru Tony Fadell, Rogers also served as chief product officer at Nest. Rogers will be working with Google’s hardware teams to help ensure that Nest transitions smoothly back into Google and to help plan out the company’s 2019 roadmap. But his loss will surely have...
