Apple’s $29 iPhone battery swap is now available, sooner than promised


Earlier this week, Apple published a letter to its customers, apologizing for slowing older iPhones as their batteries aged, and said that it would reduce the price of batteries of the affected phones to from $79 to $29. Apple says that that customers can now replace their batteries at the reduced price.

Apple initially said that the batteries would be available in late January, but updated its apology post, to say that they are now available. The company told The Verge in a statement that “we expected to need more time to be ready, but we are happy to offer our customers the lower pricing right away.” Apple had previously announced that batteries would be available at a reduced price beginning at the end of January.
