Most hybrid cars are meant to save fuel and the planet. You can't say that about Infiniti's just-unveiled Project Black S concept, however -- here, it's all about speed. It's built on the design of the Q60 Red Sport 400, but contains a Formula 1-derived "dual hybrid" system that can recuperate electricity when the car is braking and accelerating. There's one motor generator unit that captures energy from the brakes. The real stars, though, are two motor generator units on the V6 engine that collect heat from the twin turbos, translating it into either reduced turbo lag (by spinning the turbines faster than t hey would on their own) or as much as 120kW of power for the drivetrain. Rumors about an ad-supported video streaming service from Amazon have been swirling for a little while now, but it looks like the service is right around the corner. CNBC now reports that Amazon's IMDB subsidiary will announce the service this week. In August, sources familiar with the matter told The Information that the service, which is said to be comparable to offerings from Roku and Vudu , was tentatively being called Free Dive and would be available to Fire TV users. Amazon has been in talks with at least three major media companies, according to CNBC's sources, and content will include both movies and past TV shows. The main draw for Amazon is the advertising revenue that such a service would bring in. If Japan's Advanced Industrial Science and Technology Institute has its way, construction workers might be a thing of the past. Researchers have built HRP-5P, a humanoid bot that can handle a variety of construction tasks when there's either a staffing shortage or serious hazards. The prototype uses a mix of environment detection, object recognition and careful movement planning to install drywall by itself -- it can hoist up boards and fasten them with a screwdriver. The design doesn't have as much freedom of movement as a human being, but makes up for that with numerous joints that flex to degrees you wouldn't see in real people. Kepler has been running low on fuel for some time, so much so that NASA even put the spacecraft into a sleep mode in July in order to make sure it had enough fuel to transmit data back to Earth. But the planet-hunter has kept chugging -- it even kicked off a new data collection campaign in August. However, Kepler has run into another snag, and NASA has decided to put it back to sleep for the time being. The Kepler team discovered that the spacecraft's ability to point its telescope in the right direction is faltering -- something they suspected might be happening a few weeks ago. Now that it's confirmed, NASA is putting Kepler back into a sleep mode to conserve fuel ahead of its next data transmission. Lyft is rolling out a new feature that will let riders give feedback about their trip while they're still on it, Mashable reports. For now, it's only available for a small group of users and only for those who've opted for a shared ride, but those with access to it will see a "How's your route?" prompt when they open the Lyft app during a ride. Tapping the question, will give you three feedback options -- bad, ok and great -- a nd after selecting one, you'll be able to elaborate on what's making the ride good or bad through a selection of prepared options.
