Spotify appears to be on a mission to aid emerging artists as much as possible, with efforts including allowing them to upload music directly to the streaming service and offering some of them advances for licensing their work. The latest plan to help them out is a series of events designed to connect them with music industry experts and provide them with advice. The Co.Lab series will kick off in the coming months in New York and Los Angeles. Among the topics the events will focus on are revenue streams, collaboration, touring, merchandise and release strategies. As well as giving artists the chance to meet the experts, Spotify hopes they'll build out their networks with other attendees and perhaps collaborate with them down the line. Microsoft has brought its Translator to SwiftKey , allowing users to translate their conversations without having to leave the app they're in. With an update out today, SwiftKey for Android will translate incoming and outgoing messages in real time and it will be able to do so for over 60 languages. Additionally, while you won't need to install Microsoft Translator to be able to use the new SwiftKey feature, the company says translation will work offline if you do. Microsoft purchased SwiftKey in 2016 and it only makes sense that it would merge it's translator with the smart keyboard. Android users can access the feature through SwiftKey's Toolbar -- just tap the plus sign in the upper left corner of the keyboard to get there -- and you can check out which languages are supported here . Microsoft's reprieve for classic Skype users didn't last long. In an update to its earlier blog post, the Skype team revealed that it will end Skype 7 support for desktop users on November 1st, and mobile users on November 15th. These older versions might keep working "for a little while," but the developers suggest that you upgrade to Skype 8 to avoid any disruptions. Classic version support was supposed to end on September 1st, but Microsoft delayed the cutoff in August after complaints from users. Skype 8 represented a major update to the communications app with features like free HD video calling and drag-and-drop file sharing, but it also dropped features that some users had come to depend on. The extra time gives Microsoft a chance to restore at least some of those features and might make the transition less painful for veterans. ...

While it's easy to find an image of pretty much anything you want on Google, it's not always easy to find credit information for that image. But Google is looking to change that, and it has teamed up with media and image organizations CEPIC and IPTC to bring rights-related metadata to Images. Now, when you find an image on Google Images, you can click the menu icon and then "Image Credits" to see both creator and credit information. Google says it will add copyright notice informa tion in the coming weeks. "Employing IPTC metadata standards in Google Images results will help ensure proper attribution of credit and support photographers' copyright, while also boosting the discoverability of content and creators," PhotoShelter CEO Andrew Fingerman said in a statement .
