Microsoft promised Dolby Vision HDR support for the Xbox One and starting today, testers with an Xbox One S or Xbox One X (and a compatible 4K TV) can try it out with Netflix streaming . Dolby's expansion on HDR10 -- that already drastically improves the capabilities for lighting and contrast -- adds 12-bit color support plus features for content publishers to adjust settings for the best lighting and color in each scene. Most owners of Ultra HD TVs with Dolby Vision and 4K probably already have an app built-in that will stream the right content, but now they can enjoy it without switching back and forth. There's still no word on support for Dolby Vision-ready 4K Blu-ray discs, but at least this step is done. After months of deliberation, San Francisco's Municipal Transportation Agency has finally awarded scooter permits to two companies, and not to the ones you might expect. While Bird, Lime and Spin were the first to roll into the city earlier this year, their applications for scooter permits were denied. Permit applications from other big players like Uber and Lyft were denied as well. The only companies to have been awarded permits for a one-year powered scooter pilot program are Skip and Scoot, which are relatively smaller in size. The city's relationship with these electric scooters have been quite a contentious one. Researchers at the University of Tokyo and Keio University have created a robotic system called Fusion that's worn on a user's back and operated remotely. Fusion is a telepresence robot with two arms and a head and it can allow a remote operator to not only see what the wearer sees, but also manipulate the robot's arms or use the robot to move the wearer's arms. Yamen Saraiji, a researcher on the project, told The Verge that Fusion could be used, for example, by an expert to "guide new practitioners on how to operate certain instruments or to assist them remotely without the need of their physical presence." Fans of Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator now have a whole new way to experience the Dream Daddy universe as Oni Press is publishing a series of comic books based on the sim. From developer Game Grumps, Dream Daddy has players assume the role of a single dad who has moved to the town of Maple Bay with his daughter. He then meets and romances a number of other single dads in the town. The comic series will consist of five issues, each of which will focus on different Maple Bay dads, and the first issue is already available. Workplace chat and collaboration company Slack has quietly updated its status feature to include an expiration date, so you can set certain statuses like commuting, meetings, and vacation to expire after a distinct amount of time. Restarting Slack on mobile or desktop should pull up the new feature for all users, and it looks like the company updated its help center page for statuses yesterday to include information about the new change. Now, when you pull up the status screen, you'll get the same default statuses with pre-filled expiration times, including one hour for "in a meeting," 30 minutes for "commuting," and an unspecified length of time for "vacationing," which is a nice touch. Earlier this year, Ford launched its GoRide service , which provides non-emergency transportation to patients who need a lift to their medical appointments. Initially, the service launched as a partner with Michigan's Beaumont Health network, and now it's also working with the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) and its eight hospitals and facilities. "Helping patients with mobility issues or no access to transportation make it to their medical appointments on time and in a safe and comfortable manner is a key part of delivering on our DMC mission," DMC Chief Strategy Officer Joel Keiper said in a statement . If you're a Mastercard holder in the US, Google has reportedly been tracking whether you are influenced by online ads in your offline purchases for the past year. That's thanks to a private deal between the two companies brokered after four years of negotiation, according to a Bloomberg report published today .
