But scientists have found another application for the search giant's augmented reality glasses: Helping autistic children navigate social situations. Autism is a developmental disorder that hinders a person's ability to communicate with others. According to a report published in the journal npj Digital Medicine , the researchers developed a therapy routine pairing Google Glass with facial recognition software that notifies the device wearer on which emotions people are expressing. In the pilot trial, 14 children with autism spectrum disorder used the system at home. Motorola unveiled its new Moto Z3 handset today at an event in Chicago, and the company announced later on in the afternoon on Twitter that it's breaking with tradition with the third installment in its Z Series. Unlike with the Z2 and the original Moto Z , the Z3 won't be getting a shatterproof Force version or a more affordable midrange Play version — at least not this year. BlackBerry has teamed up with Optiemus, its Indian manufacturing partner, to produce the new Evolve line of smartphones, which includes the BlackBerry Evolve and the BlackBerry Evolve X . Both phones share tall screens with 18:9 aspect ratios, and both also have massive batteries. The Evolve line will ship running Android 8.1 Oreo. Unlike BlackBerry's last foray into the marketplace with the Key2 , the Evolve line won't have a physical QWERTY keyboard. Google Assistant could finally arrive on Sonos speakers in time for this year's holiday shopping season, the company's CEO said. "We're working as hard as we can and so is Google to get it ready for that time," Patrick Spence told The Verge. Additionally, he noted Sonos is considering a partnership with the likes of Tencent or Baidu to bring a Chinese-language voice assistant to the speakers. Spence also discussed the potential effect of US trade tariffs , as its speakers are built in China. He noted that if tariffs come into play, consumers will likely have to pay a little more to offset those costs. Sonos became a publicly traded company on the Nasdaq exchange Thursday. Valve's next title Artifact , a trading-card game, will be released November 28th. Digital trading card games like Gwent from Witcher developer CDProjekt Red and Hearthstone from Blizzard have been doing surprisingly well lately. That's probably somewhat because they're free to play. Artifact , based on Valve's free-to-play MOBA, Dota 2 will not be. Instead, a pair of 54-card starter decks and ten 12-card booster packs will set you back $20, according to Ars Technica . Additional cards will cost additional funds, with booster packs costing $2 each. More than that, you'll be able to sell unwanted cards via the Steam Marketplace. Amazon's chat-style fiction app, Amazon Rapids , is now free, giving parents and kids unlimited access to the hundreds of stories in its catalog. Previously, the company charged $2.99 monthly for that privilege. Some of these stories will also be available to listen to through Alexa's Storytime mode, which was launched last summer. Rapids made its debut in 2016 . The then-subscription based service was meant to get children interested in reading, by presenting short stories in the style of text message conversations between characters. Samsung has published a preorder announcement for the Galaxy Note 9 on its website — but it hasn't even officially announced the phone yet. The page reads, "Say hello to super power" and invites customers to preorder and be "one of the first to experience it."
