Team Ninja teases 'Nioh 2' for PS4

Image
As another short trailer began at the PlayStation press event at E3 in Los Angeles this evening, a samurai warrior stumbling through a foggy wood was attacked by a big red demon. The warrior fights valiantly, but his helmet is soon knocked off, showing him to also be a demon, at least in part, with glowing red horns. He pulls them out of his forehead and takes a much more monstrous form. Nioh 2 is announced. "Defy Death," said the trailer. And then, "Death Defies You." Team Ninja's sequel to its original comeback story will hopefully fare as well as the first . The trailer holds no details on release date, nor platform exclusivity, but it does look fairly stunning. Watch the 'Death Stranding' gameplay footage to be even more confused

Image
The first game from Kojima Studios, "Death Stranding", left audiences' mouths agape during its initial previews during last year's E3. For 2018, Sony once again wowed the audience, this time with actual gameplay footage. Not that that actually helped anybody understand what the heck is going on. Watching Sony's E3 preview video has left the crowd (and this reporter) genuinely perplexed. Norman Reedus plays as Sam Bridges, a post-apocalyptic courier tasked with delivering his cargo while "carrying the stranded remnants of the future in his hands," which seems to perhaps be a fetal version of himself? This game feels a lot like The Transporter meets Edge of Tomorrow. It certainly looks gorgeous, to be sure, but seriously what the what? Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux and Lindsay Wagner also star in Kojima's latest genre-defining ad...

'Resident Evil 2' remake is coming January 25th, 2019

Image
It's been 16 years since Capcom remade the first Resident Evil for Gamecube, but any plans to redo its lauded sequel fell by the wayside. But after last year's Resident Evil VII blew away fans and sales records, the time has come for a glorious return to Raccoon City. On Sony's E3 stage, Capcom revealed the remake for Resident Evil 2 is coming out on January 25th, 2019. *gulp* Back to Racoon City. #PlayStationE3 — Sony @ E3 2018 (@Sony) June 12, 2018 The extensive trailer showcased much-missed protagonists Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield, as well as glimpses of their respective antagonists, the trenchcoat-garbed Mr. X and heavily mutated William Birkin. Details were otherwise scarce, but conceivably it's coming out for PlayStation 4. Follow all the latest news from E3 2018 here! via Engadget RSS Feed https://i...

'Destiny 2: Forsaken' story trailer hints at a grim fate

Image
Bungie was more than eager to show Destiny 2: Forsaken 's gameplay changes, but what about the story? You're now getting a first glimpse at that too... and suffice it to say the story is weightier than you've seen in the add-ons . The clip shows a clearly beaten Cayde-6, everyone's favorite obnoxious Hunter Vanguard, as he's seemingly facing execution by an Awoken from The Reef (possibly the Queen's brother) and carted off to parts unknown. In other words, there are consequences in this storyline. You may have to wait until September to see more, but this is bound to whet your appetite if you're a fan of the shared-world shooter. In a lawless frontier, take justice into your own hands. The hunt is on. #Destiny2 #Forsaken pic.twitter.com/OMTxSkqM8Y — Destiny The Game (@DestinyTheGame) June 12, 2018 Follow all the latest news ...

'Control' is the next game from 'Alan Wake' developer Remedy

Image
Well, that was a surprise. Sandwiched in the middle of Sony's E3 press conference was Control , the next game from Alan Wake and Quantum Break developer Remedy. The short teaser showed a heroine in a trippy, labyrinth style world full of levitating humans and constantly shifting architecture. It also revealed some basic gunplay and telekinesis-style abilities. What that all means, though, in terms of the story, world and lore is a complete mystery for now. The video did confirm, however, that the game will be coming out in 2019. It's the first title that Remedy will be releasing after its exclusivity deal with Microsoft ended. That means it will almost certainly be coming to the PlayStation 4 and other systems. Follow all the latest news from E3 2018 here! via Engadget RSS Feed https://ift.tt/2JLrIzy ...

'God of War' New Game+ makes for difficult parenting

Image
Deep into the first intermission at the Sony PlayStation E3 event today in Los Angeles, Stu Shuman asked President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment America Shawn Layden about the possibility of New Game+ for God of War . Layden made no bones about it: the mode is coming to the triple A exclusive title. New Game+ is a mode added to big games that let you play through the titles again, typically unlocked after you finish the main game and with a much higher difficulty. You also tend to retain the skills and level ups you've earned through regular gameplay to give you a fighting chance. You can find New Game+ on other titles like Dishonored 2 and Horizon Zero Dawn . Layden said that the team would release more details on the PlayStation Blog soon. Follow all the latest news from E3 2018 here! Source: PlayStation Livestream ...

Watch the very first gameplay trailer for The Last of Us Part II

Image
Sony showed a new trailer for The Last of Us II that features Ellie as a playable character in our first ever glimpse of gameplay for the title. The trailer begins with a cinematic featuring a younger, more innocent Ellie at a dance with her friends and a female romantic interest, presumably during a more peaceful time, but with unclear placement in the timeline of events beginning with the outbreak to the ending of the first game. Jumping years later, Ellie is shown to be a highly capable and deadly fighter. The trailer features the stealth elements that were a cornerstone of the first game, as well as a refined form of the brutal melee combat from the original. The Last of Us Part II is one of the next big-budget,... Continue reading… via The Verge - Tech Posts https://ift.tt/2LG4lEM ...

First 'The Last of Us: Part II' gameplay shows off refined combat

Image
It's been 18 months since Sony and Naughty Dog first revealed The Last of Us: Part II , but despite a few enigmatic ( and disturbing ) trailers, we haven't heard much about the overall plot or seen any gameplay. That's changing today, as the forthcoming game is making up a major part of Sony's E3 2018 press conference. However, before we got to the game details, composer Gustavo Santaolalla took the stage to perform a new rendition of the Last of Us theme -- in a strange, church-like area that's far different form the average E3 press conference room. Sony's Shawn Leyden explained that this year's event would take the audience on deep dives into each game, with special environments and experiences tailored to each. After Santaolalla's performance, the lights went down, and we heard more music and saw the game's first footage -- someone sing...

Facebook provides 452-page answer to Congressional questions

Image
Mark Zuckerberg's testimony before Congress was frustrating if you were expecting plenty of immediate answers about Facebook's policies -- he frequently promised follow-ups, and there were questions that went unasked. Facebook is now filling in some of those holes, however. The company has posted responses to questions its CEO didn't answer during the hearings themselves. There's a lot of material to comb through (452 pages' worth without introductions), and not all of it is useful -- some of it is little more than grandstanding. Still, there's already a highlight. Notably, Facebook has answered a question about the data it collects from people who opt in. It takes information you explicitly provide, of course, with protections in some countries for sensitive info like ethnicity, religion and political inf). It also receives your connec...
